I'm still in high school and plan on staying in high school...I wish there were cosmetology classes at night or something. Because I really want to learn from a teacher how to do make up to PERFECTION and the art of doing make up? Is there anyway I could do that without waiting until I'm done high school and becoming a full time cosmetology student?

Oh and has anyone heard of classes you can take just for fun once a week to learn make up artistry. I'm in a rock band and I have a job plus school so I tend to get a little busy.

There are many, many ways to learn to do makeup to perfection. I've never taken a formal course, but I have listened carefully to everyone who ever worked on my face, and I read magazine articles. I also own all the books of Kevyn Aucoin (now that he's dead, you could probably find them on sale or secondhand)--Kevyn was arguably the best and most famous makeup artist out there. I own books by others, like Bobbi Brown, as well.

What there is available locally will depend on where you are and why you want to learn. Your province or state may require you to be licensed to do cosmetology as a profession, but if you want it only for you and perhaps your fellow rock band members, I suggest reading and practice, practice, and more practice. This will develop your eye for what works and what doesn't, as well as letting your hands learn the application techniques until you become proficient.

I will just add that stage makeup is different than everyday makeup is different than modelling makeup, etc. Specialized makeup will require even more reading and practice.

Cosmotology schools usually are 6 months to a year and you can take continuing ed(non credit) if you place in AP courses(Advanced Placement-for HS students to take college credited classes), but to be licensed and certified you need to enroll in an accredited beauty school when you graduate high school.
