I clean my house everyday so it's not ever really dirty, just sometimes messy from the kids leaving their crap all over the place! I do major cleaning on fridays so I don't have to do much during the weekends. Now if my grandmother were coming I'd do the kind of cleaning you do when your grandma comes to visit lol!! And I'm also a master of 'the illusion of clean' just in case someone calls and says they're on their way over and the house is messy lol.

Yes I would typically clean the house. BUTT if your not one for cleaning a couple quick cleaning facts are:
Light lemon scented oil or candles for a clean fresh scent when people come over. Babyoil is great for shining up the bathroom crome or stainless steal. You can take water and a rag just wipe down the countertops all over the place. Its easy-- dont go crazy to clean the house unless you feel like it. If you keep the house clean typicaly then light the candles.. vacume the floor for a nice presentation and have a field day entertaining guests.
hope this helps with CLEAN VS CLEAN but not killer clean... You only clean the places where you know the guets are going to be.. so it always works for me

I clean my house at night after the kids go to bed. I seem to sleep better knowing that at least the house will be clean for 10 hours. I straighten up a bit throughout the day. Usually company seems to "drop" by unannounced.

Your place is a reflection of yourself. If you have pride in yourself, and pride in your home.
You also want people to feel comfortable and at home when they visit you.
I hate to go to someone's house and it is dirty, and they ask if you want a drink or to eat, and you are grossed out.
If you clean regularly and the house is just a little messy, BUT CLEAN, that's OK. It should be CLEAN though.
