Actually HCG levels peak in the first trimester. HCG is partly to blame for morning sickness. Then, HCG lowers...and morning sickness usually dissapates by the 14th week of pregnancy.
I would assume though, that there would still be enough of the hormone in the body to create a positive result in a pregnancy test.

I think at 16 weeks yes. But I think i read somewhere once that after so many weeks into a pregnancy, a test will no longer show positive because of some change.. I'm not sure...
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING? Please correct me if so... But yeah at 16 weeks it should work.
P.S. My husbands mom was telling me the other day that she didnt know she was pregnant with her 2nd until she was 4 months along, as she was still breastfeeding her first (my hubby) and didnt think you could get preggo while breastfeeding. haha that would suck. But this was also like 25 years ago. Go figure. I watched a story on TV about a woman with sever abdominal pain went to the ER and it happens she was going into labor and sisnt even know she was preggo! Uh yeah right??

I never got that either. Supposedly this girl I knew thought she was having a stomach ache, went to the hospital, and was in labor. And she supposedly had no idea she was PG. Gratned, she was a bigger girl sot he weight gain wasn't as obvious...but COME ON.....my baby kicks like crazy and you're telling me she NEVER felt that?
Yes, at 16 weeks you should still get a Postitive test, and if anything it would be much more clear as a positive becuase you'd have higher hormones than just being 'barely" PG.
and btw...I hate EPT tests!! Mine was so messed up i had to go get a different brand. A vertical stripe meant negative and a + meant positive and all I got was a horizontal stripe.

I feel that is all about the hormones and if you notice a change in your period. It depends on that woman to keeps up with her changes in her body but sometimes it can be difficult to manage if you have an irregular period. A blood test is another way to determine an early pregnancy. I encourage every woman to join www.mymonthlycycle.com to ask question and get a better understanding of their bodies and how it works. The website is free and it help me alot and to know when I'm ovulating or when my next period is coming so i can to prepared.

Yes.....the test is designed to detect hcg levels which is a hormone that is created when u become pregnant. The farther along u are, the higher amount of hcg that will be in your bloodstream.
The less u r along, the less hcg is in your bloodstream. This is why it may be necessary to wait a week and then retest when u test negative the first time. The extra week, allow more hcg to produce therefore allowing the ept test to detect it.
Hope i helped.

Yes, HCG stays in your system until a few weeks after the baby is born. The levels peak around mid pregnancy and slowly diminish, but they are always present as long as the baby is growing.

it may take a few weeks for enough HCG to build up in your body to read as a positive, but once you get a positive pregnancy test it will remain positive for your entire pregnancy and for a few days after you have given birth,

i have two different stories here... first, my cousin didn't know she was prego until she went into labor. she was a bigger girl, so wasn't showing, and she was on the depo shot, so she didn't get her periods anyway... i dunno about kicking with her baby..
another is something i read in the news, about a couple who apparently 'couldn't' have children, and she went into labor... then, finding out she was prego.. she had thought the baby kicking was just gas, and she just thought she'd been gaining weight...
also, sometimes, with certain people, a PG test doesn't work.. i have a friend who had a baby and took several tests during her pregnancy and Never had one come out positive...

It should. But that doesn't mean it will. There's a huge window for error with those tests (in my personal opinion)
But I'm with you. I seriously doubt anyone going much further along than that without knowing they were pregnant, for sure!

I think the level of hormone (that is detected in OTC tests) decreases after a while. I think it may be possible. Blood tests, ultrasound can work to detect pregnancy.
