Replaced by a true direct consensus democracy of & by the people with a veifiable voting system! Make all levels government "unlike now" well managed employees subject to firing at will. Managers & supervisors must be over 50 years of age with good fica scores NO degrees needed!

Of course it's possible. But, if that had been the case, it's important to note that slavery would have existed a lot longer, due to the fact that a majority of (voting) people thought it was fine to enslave an entire race. A majority isn't necessarily going to look after the rights of everyone, hense the representative government system.

It is possible, I guess. Sure hope it doesn't happen, though. True democracy would be a mess.
