The home team is up by 5 at the top of the 4th, the visiting team gets 7 runs that inning to go ahead by 2 and then the ump calls the game because the sun went down. The visiting team celebrates but the home team never got its last bats. The ump seems to have no clue saying the visiting team won?

Simple answer -- neither team has won.

Depending on the rules of your State HS Association, it is either a "no game", meaning it would have to be replayed in its entirety; or a "Suspended game" which would resume from point of interrupption when the two teams meet again .

The team should have at LEAST one more AB before they call it a quits. If the Umpire calls it a ''Gameover'' when the team is on a rally, he doesnt allow the other team to have a fair chance to win the game as well. In my opinion he should have called the game when it was the last out for the other team so they have a equal amount of at bats. The Ump basiclly said : ''Youre on a rally, its getting late I think youre going to win so you win''.

Hope that helped =D

if the home team did not get their at bat in the bottom of the inning while trailing, then the top of the inning would not count. Therefore the game is not official since on 4 innings were played.

The game should be suspended with the visitors leading by 2 and the game picked up another day with the home team coming to bat in the bottom of the 5th. Same lineups have to be used.

no one. the game isn't over until the home team is afforded the opportunity to bat.
