Anything by James Patterson. He is a really great author, and I thoroughly enjoy all of them. He has a First to Die series where the heroes of the books are women. The Alex Cross books are good as well. Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas is really good.
Relic by Lincoln Childs and Douglas Preston, is really good and was better that movie in my opinion. My family each took turns reading it and we all finished it in one night. But I would read it with the lights on.

Don't know what you like I love A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. It is ab it of a weird story but very good. Most anything by Michael Crighton. Mystery novel the Inspector Jury novels by Martha Grimes. The Alienist by Caleb Carr(it is on the gross side though).

The Clan of the Cave Bear series by Jean M. Auel is AWESOME! And the good thing about those books is they're long and there's 5 of them so you'd be busy with them for quite a while. Another excellent book is She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb. Good luck!

I love the Harry Potter books. I would also suggest A Great And Terrible Beauty, by Libba Bray.

I haven't read any new releases recently, but some old(er) favorites are The Count of Monte Christo by Dumas, The Deep End of the Ocean by Jaqueline Mitchard (I think), Marley and Me (I don't remember the author), Band of Brothers (Same here), Magical Thinking by Augustine Burroughs.

House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende or the Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez; or the Bible - can't beat it for good stories and great poetry!
