"The Sad Cafe" is by The Eagles. I know that. I'm not so sure about the other part.

Joe Walsh? He was in the James Gang before the Eagles, and I'm not positive but I think he had a few solo albums before that.

Are you talking about Don Henley of the Eagles?
"Sad Cafe was the album closer on "The Greeks Don't Want No Freaks" album by the Eagles.
The Eagles were very big in the 70's and then Henley had very successful solo career in the 1980's before teaming back up with the Eagles to do "Sad Cafe" and many other songs on three Eagles albums since then. They first got back together to do the "Hell Freezes Over" tour and they have stayed together since. Many in the music business speculated that the reunion would not last because both Don Henley and Joe Walsh both were having very good solo careers on their own after the original breakup of the Eagles in the late 70's or early 80's. It was during Henley's departure from the band in the 80's that the Eagle's management had said the band would get back together "when hell freezes over", hence the name of the Eagles' long hoped for and very successful reunion tour in the 90's that made a huge amount of $$$ for them all. At the time, it was the most expensive rock tour ever made. Ticket prices ranged from the cheapest seats at $350 all the way up to Thousands$$ of dollars for a seat up front.
And every show was sold out well in advance. Too rich fo rmy blood.
Hope this was helpful/what you were looking for. Just so long as you know that Henley's successful solo career was a result of him being an ex-Eagle, not the other way around.

Joe Walsh had a very successful solo career, but I'm pretty sure it was after The Eagles. If the songs you know are "Life's Been Good" and/or "Rocky Mountain Way" then thats him. Other than that, Glenn Fry also played guitar, but it was more of a rhythm guitar. He also went on to a mildly successful solo career. I haven't listened to much of his solo stuff. Finally, Don Felder origionally joined the band but left early. I don't think he was around when "Sad Cafe" came out, though I'm not 100% sure.

The group was obviously the Eagles but as for the actual guy I'm kind of confused.

According to Wikipedia the lead guitar in the song was done by Don Felder but it could have been one of the other members. On the disambiguation page the song itself doesn't have a direct article yet so no specific info could be obtained from there. I know that AFTER the band broke up everyone for the most part had successful solo careers but I'm not so sure about before they formed.
