"William Ding, who is out on bail, can be fined, caned or jailed for up to two years for each of the convicted charges." - Extracted from Yahoo! News.

So he's currently out on bail and nobody will know the final outcome until the judge charges him or unless he confesses to the offences made himself. But everything really depends on the evidences if any found. Anyway, I think the highest number of canings will be 24 only.

For your info, TAN D:
24 canings will NOT be done at one go. Each caning is done either per month OR the remaining caning sessions will only start after the prisoner has fully recovered from the previous cane wounds or bruises. If not fully recovered, they'll wait till the wounds are healed and start caning again. But ONLY 1 caning per session. And this process will continue till the 24 strokes are finished.

I met William Ding personally. He is a nice guy. How he ends up with the trouble he is in, no one really can tell. It is best to let the courts decide on a fair sentence for him if he is found guilty. We should not speculate before the decision is made.

No, maximum strokes of the cane is 24. Caning is "at one go". Which meant 24 strokes in one time, no one can take it more than that.

Caned 100 times is too harsh to a human being. I wish he'll be just given a jail term whoever he is.
