Have you ever been on the highway in a car and put your had out of the window like a plane wing? If you change the angle of your hand it either goes up, down, or stays the same. It's called lift.

What happens is when it goes really fast, then air goes under the wings of the plane and that in turn rises the plane. Its like when you blow a piece of paper off a table. Then due to the planes speed it stays in the air (most of the time).

It uses its wings as an airfoil.

Airfoils are neat, if you move them through air, air is forced to go around it. The air that goes ABOVE has more distance to travel, so it goes faster. As tought in science class, when fluids move fast, they lose pressure.

So in short, there is less air pressure above the wings, so the wings rise and take the plane with it.

The jets push atmosphere out the back and suck it in the front, thus propelling it forward.

It utilizes the forces of lift and thrust to allow it to stay in the air, similar to the way a bird keeps itself in the air. That is just off the top of my head, but if you want more information, I would look at http://www.en.wikipedia.org under aviation or airplanes or something similar.

the air going over the wings creates lift which must be greater than the weight, and the drag must be outweighed by the speed of the aircraft.

do you mean why will it float in a big mass, and not look like a bunch of diffent pieces
