In competent independent comparative tests, Grisoft's AVG Anti-Virus has been shown to have a less than stellar virus/malware detection rate. This has been determined in test after test after test.

Why are people still using this waste of disk space when better options are available and just as free?

AVG has proven itself to be a mediocre performer at best. Missing almost 20%, while trying to detect known malware, in some tests. Not to mention almost non-existent heuristic detection and infrequent "once-a day" updates.

When AVG was released as freeware a few years ago it was considered excellent as most antivirus/spyware were very expensive then, and this was the cheap option i.e FREE but now that the anti virus spyware thing has become cheaper it has become a bit useless especially when surfing dodgy websites. I've came across so many people recently having problems using this software. But it IS free so good on 'em

Personally I did not know or hear of any AVG problems. Thanks for the tip. It's time to move onto Avast.
