The Iranians want the Brits to be tried. So, if they do get tried, how would one try to figure out where exactly was their ship? This comes from someone who has no idea about navigation, so humor me. And, if it is found that they were in Iraqi waters, then the Iranians committed a hostile act, correct?

First off, the border in that area of operations has been under dispute by Iraq and Iran for ages so there's never gonna be a definitive answer to this question. If one is so inclined one could wait for the GPS coordinates of the seizure to be released (this could take years) and decide for oneself in whose waters the British were when they were boarded.

I'd suggest that the real question is WHY did the Iranians decide to take this action at this time?

I think with GPS it should be a snap but obviously what is happening is multifactorial.
A) the waters near the incident have some history thats in dispute. ie the actual boundaries are in disagreement maybe Iran is water grabbing because Iraq is in Civil War
B) the readiness of Britain and the USA with current sanctions and general international opinion to provoke a conflict before the current administration and remainder of the warmongers get voted out of office.

For the sake of the captured infantrymen, anyones opinion is beside the point. info are the only real selection on their part. If in certainty they weren't in Iranian waters then Iran has to launch them asap. in the event that they certainly have been in those waters then Britain desires to describe why.

Just release the satellite photos for that specific part of the world on that specific time and date! Which can also be used to prove or disprove all other crimes as well even those that are occurring indoors! Isn't technology wonderful?

It looks like the british were in iraqi waters when they were taken.

Iran is dangerous and committed kidnapping and hostage taking.

We need to take Iran down.

GPS could theoretically solve it pretty easily, and our soldiers had a GPS on them. Problem is, the waters are disputed. Both Iraq and Iran claim them. That's why there's a problem.
