I am thinking about moving there from california to be with my mom, would you recommend living there? how's the weather? What's the general vibe of the area?

i think it would be wonderful to live in florida!!!!
you will also be with your mom, and there is a lot of wonderful things to do in florida, the weather is always JUST awsome!!!!!
take my advide, pack your bags and go to FLORIDA!!!!!!

It's ok, but that's my opinoin.
If you want to know more talk to people who deal with realestate there and check the crime logs on the area.
Also take a look around, and go visit there to see what's there and how the people are. You don't want to live in a place where it doesn't have what you want, and the people there are not the people you associate with.
I like the Orlando area better.

i live in gainesville, FL, and all i hear about on the news is a lot of crime. BUT, that's all the news reports anyway. talk to your mom. see how she likes it.
just make sure you visit the different areas of Jacksonville. it has some great shopping areas, but some parts (like every city) aren't good to live in.

no, it's a nice place to visit and the beaches are close but i wouldn't wanna live there. there's lots of places to shop if you have a lot of money but the traffic is horrible and it's overpopulated. the weather is pretty nice i guess. but i'm sure there are really nice places somewhere in the area, but i personally would not move there. i'm from tallahassee, which is also a sucky place to live and am looking forward t moving to orlando next spring.

it's alright, but it is better when u are really close to the water, like venus florida where the beach is like 10 minutes from most places. But it is alright, Florida is awesome

I drove through there years ago on a bus and it stunk because of the ship yard/naval port. Ask your mom what it smells like. I doubt it improved over the years.
