7[x]
that's how it would be written. to solve the problem you would first find the value of x. Let's say x= -5. remember when dealing with absolute value you're dealing with the distance that number is away from zero. distance can never be negative, think of driving a car, it doesn't matter what direction you're going your adding miles to odometer. the same is true with numbers. so the absolute value of -5 is 5 because it is five spaces way from zero.
once you have found the absolute value multiply it by 7. so 5*7= 35. and that's your answer.

"Seven times" means that the mystery number (we'll call it 'x') will be multiplied by seven. The absolute value symbols are two lines like this | |. So if you have seven times the absolute value of x, you should get:

7|x|

Absolute value simply means that the number inside the signs is going to be positive. For example, |-5| = 5.

The absolute value of a number is how far from zero the number is.
Ex. l-6l (<---in absolute value signs) The absolute val. of -6 is 6 because it is 6 from zero. Get it?
Seven times the absolute value of a number is 7(absolue value of a number)
All you do is times the absolute value of whatever number by 7.
