Umm, I wanna buy guild wars. I dunno if I should get this --->http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4872313

or this
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3611057

I think the first one if the expansion and the 2nd one is the first game. Do I need to buy the 2nd one and then buy the 1st one or can I just play the 1st one and not buy the second one?

TY

The expansions play independently of the original... it's not necessary to buy both. Of those I'd get the original... Factions wasn't all that fun. If you like the original, skip Factions and get Nightfall next. :-)

The first link is Guild Wars: Factions, the first expansion pack. The second link is Guild Wars: Prophecies, the first game.

There is also http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4346784 the new expansion in the series.

Each of the three games is completely stand alone, you only need one to play. Each game does have unique content, which you have to own the game to access. (Though I don't remember what Prophecies unique content is.) Each game is a focused a little differently though.

Prophecies has the longest story, it also takes the longest to get to the level cap.

Factions is all about PVP, there isn't anywhere near the same level of PVE content. However, you SHOULD hit the level cap before you leave the tutorial island! Its also the game I've heard the least good things about.

Nightfall splits the difference, faster leveling than Prophecies, but slower leveling than Factions and more PVE.

There might some minor bonus content that unlocks if you have more than one game, but I don't remember for sure. There are also collector editions, but they give minute bonuses for significantly greater cost.

Go with the first game Prophecy's. All 3 games are stand alone games and can play independently of each other, however, they can be linked and play together seamlessly.
I would go with the first game as it is now 29.99, and will help you get a feel for the game, and start to build up a character. Later on add on Factions, Nightfall, and then Eye of the North (an expansion that is not out yet)
Factions is much more difficult to get into due to the confined, compact space, it is also the smallest of the current 3 games.
Nightfall is also well worth it, and a good place to start too.

Factions was the easiest for me. But nowadays with the new expansion out, you might as well get that one. However, Factions is completely doable with the henchmen provided and never having to interact with other players. Prophecies, is not (that is the regular "Guild Wars" game).

You don't need them all to play one. You can have any of the games.

Good luck.

Each game you purchase is a standalone product, meaning you don't have to own the first game or second to enjoy the third. I have all 3, they are each distinct, different games using the same gameplay elements.

There is a gamepack out, with all three for 99 bucks, but I couldn't find it on the web. I would recommend going that route, it's the most economical, but if you can't afford it, I would say whichever one looks interesting to you. I like all of them, there's no problem jumping around. The first game is harder to level up in, but it's still alot of fun. The pvp is really great in all of them.

Good luck and enjoy!

i am proud to say this guild wars has gotten game of the year awards form different things. i am a constant player in guild wars and if you want to contact me on there my name is

Lord of the Relms

i also have beat factions.
i say that prophecies is the hardest to beat teamwork is required in every thing its also the biggest Continent
factions is hard and easy you can make it hard or you can make it easy.
nightfall is easy in the beginning and gets harder along the way challenging you more.
i own all 3 and i only like factions and nightfall you have more freedom in there.
i suggest night fall because that's the easiest beginning.......
what ever you do don't make a paragon they are not that good.
