I don't believe our lives are all mapped out for us but I do believe that we are meant to learn certain life lessons and that we as humans need help sometimes so "fate" steps in sometimes, putting certain people in our paths time and time again. Here's an example: I met a great guy when I was 16. He lived in another state and he was about 22. I was jail bait but he was the perfect gentleman always and very romantic and never made an inappropriate move. He was in college as a sophomore and flew to my state just to take me to my senior prom when I told him I wasn't going because no one asked me. He stayed with my Aunt and Uncle and we hung out for the weekend, always a gentleman. OK now, I graduate and our long distance relationship dwindles (primarily due to my mother medling as she was tearing up his letters before I got them and she admitted to that near her death bed). Anwyay, we both hook up with other people for about 4 years each the 5 years we have no contact. I decide after my 4 year relationship ended, to look him up. Here's where it gets good. I called one of his former employers. She said he didn't work there anymore but I could call his dentist because they continued to use the same one. So, I got that number and called it. The receptionist said after I explained who I was, "Oh my Gosh, I just got off the phone with him to reschedule his appointment so I know he's at home and I will call him with your number right away." He called me back within 5 minutes. He had just broken up with his girlfriend and told me it was fate that I found him. I told him that as excited as I was that I just joined the USAF and would be leaving for basic training soon. He told me not to go but he didn't ask me to come see him or anything, he just said over and over don't go. I was going to get away from home as he didn't know what living at home was doing to my sanity, taking care of my bitter mother. The USAF was going to give me a chance to travel a bit before anything serious I thought and besides my father was proud of me for the first time. Anyway, this guy, wouldn't wait and thought I was giving up on him. So, we lost touch again. Then after my two failed marriages, approx. 15 years later and literally the day after ex #2 moved out of our house, this guy from my past whom I have always and will always love, emails me...he found me through Classmates.com and we started emailing and chatting as if we hadn't been apart. This time I told him it was fate. He said no that too much time had passed and he had become a bit of a synic about love. I lived in a different state and I flew to try to see him in person and he refused...he was always so stubborn. Well, and I have been too or I wouldn't have joined the USAF. Anyway, we have remained friends and have had a few other little odd things happen along the way. I don't think fate meant for us to be in a romantic relationship but I certainly believe we have learned a great deal from each other, OK me more from him so I believe tha is fate that kept bringing us together.

no, my life isn't maped out for me. Although I believe that God our creator sees our beginning and our end.
If my life was maped out I could no longer have freedom of choice.
I do believe that the Creator gives us talents and situations for us to take advantage of. But, when it comes right down to it we have choices. And one minut moment we can totally change the course of our life. There are a billion different out comes of our life. We can only live one moment at a time. In the end our total of moments and the choices we make along the way become the story of our life. As humans we can't know or comprhend what our future will be. Only God knows the total picture.
The word "fate"......we all have different definations for it.
Fate is in the eye of the beholder I think.

I believe SOME parts of your life is fate and some is connected to your own actions and decisions. I don't believe fate is "mapped out" by a god, but I just think that some things happen for reasons for you to figure out. We don't control every thing that happens in our lives. Lots of it, but not ALL of it.... Some people you meet for a reason. Some people you lose for a reason. Sometimes there's no reason at all. Not everything is fate and not everything is what you make of it. Because of these things, life is a mystery.

Yes I do.
I believe that everything was planned for us previously by God, and that doesn't count as a bad thing or people would say that's not true we make our own choices. Yes we do!
People just don't get the concept, that everything has been set and planned for us previously by God, but we also make our OWN FREE CHOICES... Meaning that we do what we want in our free will yet God already knows what are we going to do and what are we going to approach. So its technically YES, we are free but everything is already made and done/written for us so that we get to experience it and see what we're going to face later on in the future; and that's what I call: FATE!

Yes I do believe in fate. I feel that my life is planned out, in a very secretive way, and that keeps me going. Like for example, you run over a hook, and it punctures your tire, and you have a flat. If you could rewind time, and miss the hook, I think something would happen to that tire, or to you anyway. Fate is very mysterious and I love it, and I live it, do you????

I've never believed in fate or predestination.
I've always believed that I am the captain of my ship; the director of my life's play.
That said, I also recognize the presence of random chance; a million, million things that could happen to me to either enhance or destroy my plans, but that does not deter me from making plans and decisions.

Well, I believe in God. He may have a plan for you, which may adapt as you make choices, but may still be headed towards the same destination. So yes, in a sense I do. Not that we don't control our lives, but there may be some things that some people are destined for.

No...
I have the capacity and power to make decisions about the direction of my life.. and believing in fate would diminish my motivation to make my life the way I want it to be

I believe from our perspective, we can't see that aspect of our lives unless we're incredible still and attuned to what we believe the universe is telling us. Whether it is or is not there is debatable, but one this is for sure, it's guised as free will for us now and we should take advantage of that.
