at the daycare center I worked at, we mixed bottles in the morning and then pulled them from the fridge as needed. We would place them in a bowl in the sink, right under the warm tap water, which would be turned on to flow over the bottle. We would check after about 5-8 minutes to see if it were the right temperature. This seemed to be the best way to get the bottle warm without overheating or taking the chance of hot spots. If the babies did not finish the bottle, we would stick it back in the warm water in the sink for up to 1 hour, after which it would be tossed.

Usually around the time when I knew my baby would get hungry I would put the bottle in boiling water for five minutes, that way by the time she started fussing, the bottle was warm and ready. Another thing I would do is use a bottle warmer they work great and it's faster than having to wait until the water boils or having to test it every few seconds. Almost all of them shut off after a certain time so that it doesn't boil the milk.

I put a cup(like a coffee mug) in the microwave for about 3-4 minutes, with about a few ounces of water in it, I make sure it is to the point of boiling hot and then I put the bottle in the cup and let it sit for about 2-3 minutes. I shake the bottle really good and I test the temperature with my wrist, if I don't feel anything then I know it is perfect. If she is really hungry and crying/screaming then I put the bottle minus the top in the microwave for 30 seconds and or less probly for 3-4 ounces and then I shake it really good and test the temp on my wrist. I hope it helps. Congratulations on your new baby!

How are you heating her bottle? I find it works best to put the bottle in a cup or bowl of very hot water for about 30 seconds to a minute if she will wait that long and then test the temp on your wrist.

They sell bottle warmers. They really come in handy. It saves so much time. You just poor a tiny bit of water into it, then push the button. It uses really hot steam to warm the bottle and only takes about a minute or two.

Always put it in a pan of boiling water, NEVER put it in the microwave. And test it by squirting a bit on the inside of your wrist.
