Yahoo! Mail does not delete your inbox EVER. So who deleted them? Did you accidentally deleted them? Perhaps you just didn't know. Yahoo! does not even know your password.

Did you share your password to anyone?

Check your Trash folder, they could still be there.

You said there are 415 e-mails in your inbox... perhaps you went over the 1 Gig limit. If you did, then Yahoo! must delete some of them... simply because you did not follow the rule. But if you constantly get spam into your inbox... and Yahoo! deleted the important ones then you are in trouble.

Is mail automatically deleted?

Trash

If it's sitting in your Trash, yes, mail is automatically deleted at an occasional interval. You can also completely delete it yourself, by clicking "Empty" beside your Trash.

After messages are emptied from Trash, they're permanently deleted from the Yahoo! Mail server and can't be recovered.

Bulk

You can choose how long you want to keep messages in your Bulk folder. You can choose to immediately delete upon receipt or keep messages for one week, two weeks, or one month. The default setting is one month.

To edit this feature:

Click "Options."
Click "Spam Protection."
Click the "Save these messages in the Spam Folder for" button.
Choose a desired timeframe from the pull-down menu.
Click "Save Changes."
Other Folders

Mail in your Inbox and in all your other folders stays in your account as long as you want it to!

Your Account Quota (1GB)

If you reach your account's capacity, you'll need to delete some emails to make room for new messages. The best approach for doing this is to delete your biggest messages—usually the ones with large attachments.

I have been a Yahoo! User for over 10 years now. I have only had one instance where this issue happened to me.

I will tell you right here and now, Yahoo doesn't delete your emails. They DO delete your Bulk and Trash folders automatically but never anything in the Inbox, Sent, Drafts, or user created folders.

The problem I encountered was that the user left her PC logged into Yahoo, her boyfriend got on the machine and found emails from a past relationship. Being angry, he delted all her emails.

I would have to say, Change your Password right now!!! Your account may be at risk. If it happens again, you're going to want to goto my site (downloads.comstar-computers.com) that's computers.com since Yahoo likes to hide your Fix links.

Download the ANTIKEYLOGGER (Also available at www.majorgeeks.com. You may have a keylogger tool installed unknowlingly which reports every keyboard key stroke and sends the list to a remote server or saves the list and emails it to the person whom installed it. This type of Keylogger is used to steal passwords and personal data from secured machines.

Yahoo just updated my email page to some new fancy blue gray background, deleted all my contacts, prior email both sent and received. This is nuts. I need that information ASAP! I am in the middle of purchasing RE in another state.
