If you are out a lot get a cat. If you have a lot of free time get a dog.

Depends on what you want and your curcumstanses.

DOG
Dogs are very playful. If you are the kind of person that will be willing to give atention, walk, and play with your dog, maybe you should consider one. If you are gone for most of the day or some sort of a "couch potato" a dog might not be right for you.

CAT
Cats are more independent. They dont seek atention like dogs. If you dont have time to play, or walk a dog, then a cat is right for you. Cats arn't very playful, though. They can sometimes be a little moody too.

It depends on what you're looking for. A dog is a good family pet and they are also loyal. A cat may be loyal but they are tend to be less loyal.
If you get a dog I'd suggest a Boxer as a good family pet. Boxers are medium sized dogs to large size. If you want a watch dog, I suggest a St. Bernard or a Germand Shepherd. And if you're in to small dogs I'd try a pug. All of those are great and loyal family pets.

Depends on the time your going to have with the animal. A dog is like having a kid, very dependent, and needs a place to run and exercise. They are great for companionship but are a lot of work.
A cat pretty much all you need to do is feed them and keep their litter clean. They are very independent and could care less if you come home or not. They also can be affectionate but usually spend most of their time sleeping.
So hope that helps you out, like I said just depends on how much effort your willing to put into your pet.

You should know whether you prefer a cat or a dog. They are very different pets.. You should get out and meet a few cats, and meet a few dogs, and decide first, dog or cat, then go from there.

Dogs are a bit more high maintenance than cats. Figer out how much time you can dedicate to raising and training a new pet, then decide.

it depends really on your lifestyle. if you travel a lot then may be you should get a cat since they don't care if you are there or not. if you are home a lot and have a lot of time to show love and affection to this pet, then get a dog. you will be rewarded
