Producers are any plants that photosynthesize. There are many in the desert, but they usually have specialized adaptations to allow them to live in dry regions. For example, cacti have reduced leaves (they have often become the spines) because plants tend to lose water through their leaves. Instead, the cacti have the photosynthetic materials in the stems.
Decomposers are organisms that eat dead plants and animals, breaking them down to the basic elements. Many of them are bacteria and fungi, which tend to be more active in the presence of water. However, there are others, like termites, which can withstand some drought. Termites can break down the plant storage element, cellulose because they have mutualistic organisms that live in their guts.
