Sanjaya Malakar, 17, is from Federal Way, WA. He auditioned in Seattle with his sister, who was eliminated at the Hollywood stage of the competition. Sanjaya says he started singing as a little boy and had formal singing training.
Sanjaya, who spent four years performing with the Hawaii Children Theater, claims he is a shy person and says "I'm scared that I'll never be able to walk into a supermarket without someone recognizing me." His music idol is Stevie Wonder.

They're both skinny and strange. Big difference. Michael's got talent to go with his being strange. He contributed more to music before he was 10 years old than Sanjaya will do in a lifetime. Regardless what is thought of his lifestyle his impact on music can't be denied. It's an insult to compare Sanjaya with him. Musically that is.

I think it's his attitude! If you've seen Michael on shows, he seems to be bashful and shy. sanjaya seems the same. He doesn't look anything like Michael, it's just his persona that reminds me of michael.
