Sometimes we want things because it is for entertainment, or work. We make up our minds that it is necessary because it will fulfill two tasks, and one of them will probably help on the job. Most sensible people will fight, in the mind, the reasons why we should not do it. Other will try and use reasoning, like, should I use the money for something else? I can almost guarantee, you will start saving money to buy the computer the moment you spend it on something else. Each and every time you look at that other item you bought instead of the computer, you WILL look at it, no matter what it is, and wish you had bought the computer... Buy the computer, you will feel better, and you'll use it for everything!!!

Deciding to buy or not buy this system is really a personal decision. All I can recommend is to consider the following points and then make a decision:
- If this is a first job out of school, do you have money that you owe to relatives for helping you through school?
- Do you really have $1300 to spare? Do you have anything saved up in case you have any major repairs (auto, appliance, etc...)?
- Do you have a significant other that would pretty much be upset if you devoted a chunk of time playing MMORPG? (I've seen more than a few complaints about significant others complaining about online games like this.)
- Will this affect your ability to do other activities you enjoy?
I'd be inclined to go for the system at my point in life (I'm actually planning on building two computers in the near future to replace one that just died and another that just can't handle the modern games - my wife, kids, and I all have our favorites).

I'd get a Macbook Pro. It runs WoW fine under OSX or Windows and it'd make you work better (cept WoW) because it'd just work. Of course, it's not $1300.
When I started a new job, I took the Mac dive and got a 17" Powerbook. I've loved it (but it runs WoW like crap) and I'm extremely productive on it because it's all work and no excess tech.
If it's not going to leave the house, get a dell desktop. At the same time, will a new computer make you play WoW more and screw up your first impressions on your new job?
Don't listen to the Mac advice, I'm just waiting for the next one to come out so I can replace my 4 year old PB. But they're pretty expensive (but so are the high-end Dell laptops).

Yes you should buy it. Perhaps not from dell ebuyer is very good apparently. Think about how much pleasure you will get from a new P.C.
Life is about enjoyment and pleasure. There is no other reason. Go for it. Don't rush and buy the first computer. Do some research. DirectX 10 is supposed to be coming out soon and it will have an impact on top games. Do your research. Get a great graphics card and lots or fast RAM.
Save within your limits. & Have fun! Do searches on google and post on gaming forums.

Most computers now a days come with the ability to add more too it, call dell, that is where I got mine from and they will walk you through some scenarios and help you get a computer that you can use now to play your game and can add things too later to make it more efficient for work, etc... Also since you want to play a game on it, you will be getting a computer with good hardware to begin with because gamers need the better computers to run the games properly. I trust dell, they will guide you, and you can also ask them about any free bees that come with a new computer, I traded in a free printer to get something else. They are great.

Use the money for something else. Maybe you can get it when you need it more and when you have saved up more money from your new job. You don't really need it now and if you wait you will probably be able to get a better computer for the same price or the same computer for a lower price.

I would wait and see what your pay checks are going to be like. If you are getting paid more then you should pay your bills off first (loans, credit cards etc.) If you don't have any loans or credit cards to payoff then go for it. Everyone needs to spend some money on themselves every now and again.
Making yourself happy in turn makes the people around you happy as well.

you can save hundreds of dollars off a computer by building it yourself.
The easiest and cheapest way that i've found is through www.mwave.com they are the cheapest online computer parts store.
On the left side menu there is a link on their page for "Bare Bones Systems". That will tell you all the parts that are compatible with the system you want to get. All you have to put in is they type of processor you want. (AMD vs INTEL) then it'll give you a list of casses, motherboards, CPUs, RAM, Optical Drives, and FDD.
Then get a hardrive and video card. Its that easy.

Don't listen to these guys. Build a PC and learn something that'll make you money later on. Besides, then you can dedicate you old pc as a web server!

A lot of people are going to give you all sorts of advice. Personally I think you deserve a pat on the back. Setting a goal, no matter what the goal, then working towards that goal in a methodical manner shows a lot of maturity. Its something you want, you are making the effort to achieve it and when you do you gain a sense of accomplishment. It will also help you develop a very useful habit.
Go for it.

You obviously should save your money for something better, but actually you should buy a new computer if you want to, just not one that it's 1300. why 1300? Buy one of the good, cheap dells, or better yet, even though they say they are crappy, buy an EMACHINE! i got mine new for 60 dollars on black friday, and it's incredibly good, i dont need it for WoW, but it works for many other games and applications perfectly. you should start saving and buy a cheaper comp.
