"Oh yeah, if it's my baby, it belongs in my home," Von Anhalt said. "I'm going to take good care of it. I will be a good father."
This is a quote from Fredric Von Anhalt, 59-year-old husband of Zsa Zsa Gabor. If you missed the news, Anhalt recently claimed he fathered Anna Nicole Smith's daughter and has provided a DNA sample for testing. Now, my question is just why does Anhalt repeatedly refer to the child as an "it"????

It's a German-Prussian language thing, Anhalt's native language and culture. "It" as a concept in paternal cases in Anhalt's culture would be kinda sorta a positive thing, related to property issues and claiming a child in a formal and honorable way. The "it" gives the female child more power and respect, even more than in, say, a Methodist wedding ceremony in which a man is asked, "Would you take "this woman" as your lawful wedded wife?", rather than saying. "Would you take Petunia as your wife?". It's "high and mighty" talk, connotating respect for Anne's daughter and possible relation to him. Anhalt may or may not be sincere. But, that's what I know about the meaning of his words.

He has no emotional connection to the baby. It would seem that most of the people involved in this entire situation only want money and or fame!

he doesn't care about that baby, and he know's that he is not her father. he just saw this all as an opportunity to get himself 15 minutes of fame, regardless of how stupid he's made himself look.

Ugh..my inlaws do the same thing. All babies are "its" and "things". I have NO idea why! Perhaps it's a cultural thing?
