you have no way of knowing. people walk around dialted to 1 for awhile- i have been at 3 cm for over 2 weeks, contractions since i was 28 weeks, aleady lost most of my plug, extremely uncomfortable. with my first I was only at 1 for 2 weeks before i went into labor. either way it isn't that much longer if your at 39 weeks

I am 38.5 weeks and found out last thursday that I am 2 cm dilated and 70% effaced. The doctor said it should be within a week but I could still go to 40 or 41 weeks. If this is your first it is normal for this process to take a while. Normally doctors don't like to induce unless you go past 41 weeks or the baby is in distress. Once you loose your mucus plug labor is usually about 24 hours away. Trust me I can sympathize with being soooo ready. I am huge and cant wait to pop him out but unfortunately the baby is the one who decides when labor starts. I've noticed that walking around the house tends to relieve some of the discomfort though. Congrats and Good luck!

Usually, dilation and effacement mean nothing. It's a way for us to gauge how much your body is doing, but not really anything past that. You could go tonight, or it could be weeks. There is no way to tell. A lot of women don't loose their plugs all at once, sometimes you don't even notice.

There are few things to try, but nothing is a sure thing. Try walking- a lot!!!!! This really seems to get things moving. Sex is a good one. Semen contains a chemical that helps to soften the cervix. Orgasm for you can also bring on uterine contractions and get ocytocin going, which the natural hormone that stimulates labor.

There are other tricks you can try. If you want to know, let me know and I'll tell you more. You may want to wait until your boyfriend comes back to try them, if you want him there for the birth!!

It could be anytime to a couple weeks. If this is your first pregnancy normally you will efface before dilate.
The best thing to get labor to come on is Lots of sex and walking. nipple stimulation also..But remember that the baby will come when he or she is ready! Good Luck

It doens't sound like you're too close just yet. You may go 41 weeks or so! You can be diliated 1 CM for quite some time with nothing happening.

If you want to deliver soon go on some walks to try and help bring it on!

Very soon now. You'll lose the mucus plug when you're 3-4 cm.

Noone can answer this for sure, not even your doctor.
Induction is not preferred by most of the doctors (for good reasons), try to relax and let it happen naturally.
I know it is hard to wait last days (I know, cause I'm 40week+2days), but let your body decide when it is time.
