They are making the Playoffs, haven't clinched it yet but they are getting in. Crosby is their best player, how can you really even ask? They are one of, maybe the best, young team in the NHL. Hard to rank them overall though.
Oh and Clueless proves he doesn't know much when he INSISTS on including Buffalo. The Pens split games in Buffalo(both were 4-2 and the Pens lost when the two teams were using their back-up Goalies, and at that time Thibult was terrible). The Pens won in OT at Mellon and therefore are LEADING the season series 2-1 with a game left.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are totally a force to be reckoned with this season. Without a doubt, they will make the Playoffs. They have focused on a one main point this season:
No pressure - have fun...
I think this is a totally valid point. No one really expected the Pens to do as well as they did this year coming off of such a lousy season previously. In every player interview I've watched, they all mention that they just want to go out there, play a solid game of hockey, and have fun while doing it. I'm a coach and I tell my players the same thing...it worked for us and it's definitely working for them.
As far as the best player, it's obviously Sidney Crosby. But I would mention that so many other players contribute to this winning team (and many are underrated):
1. Evgeni Malkin - will be rookie of the year
2. Jordan Staal - my vote for best defensive offensiveman (and yes, I vote Staal for the Selke)
3. Sergei Gonchar - amazing defensiveman with over 60 points this season...excellent at playing the point
4. Ryan Whitney - defense - 11goals, 43 assists, and 54 pts...
5. Jarkko Ruutu - winger with an aggressive game. He gives the team power and guts
6. Erik Christensen - sheer shootout magic...he's the league leader in shootout percentage...very seldom does he miss his mark...heck of a shot...
7. Marc-Andre Fleury & Jocelyn Thibault - awesome talent in the net...the veteran and the up and coming star...
8. Maxime Talbot - grit and determination...he never backs off and because of that constant pressure, he sets up some pretty plays
I could go on with something for everyone on the team...
I bleed black and gold...proud to be a Pens fan...bring home the cup again...
Let's Go Pens!!!

1. Yes, they would have to have a complete collapse at this point not to.
2. A very young and exciting team, I just wish 99% of the people here on Y!A would realize there ARE 29 others.
3. Yes
4. Sidney Crosby, if you meant the ENTIRE NHL it's Brodeur (although Crosby is still a reasonable pick)
5. They are in the "second echelon" of teams, good, but not as dominating as Detroit, Nashville, Anaheim and Buffalo.
6. I think their fans need to learn some RESTRAINT and PATIENCE. In 2-3 years they may well have a dynasty, but I'm tired of hearing how great they are when they have yet to accomplish anything.

Where have you been for the past couple months??
Of course they'll make the playoffs, and they'll probably give Ottawa a tough time in the 1st round. They have many great players: Sidney Crosby, Jordan Staal, Gary Roberts, Evgni Malkin, Marc-Andre Fleury, just to name a few...
They are totally a high ranking team in the NHL since Therrien took over as coach. Montreal is stupid. Look at them, look at Pittsburgh...

Absolutly! The Penguins are basically guaranteed a playoff position at this point. Sidney Crosby is by far their best player. He is actually the best player on the league. Watch the goal he scored against the Canadians where he beat four players and the goalie to score a goal - AMAZING!!!

Do you live in a cave or something? I can say with a high degree of certainty that the Penguins will see the post-season this year. They have been on fire as of late and have a crackerjack group of young players who will continue to get better the more seasons they have under their belts and carry the team in the years to come. If their goal tending stays solid they should be one of the most exciting teams to watch come playoff time. I still like my Sabres better, though!

Yes, they will make the playoffs.
Yes, they rank highly overall in the NHL.
They have the best player in the league in Sydney Crosby and he's not even old enough to drink yet.
They're a great team this year and should be for a very long time to come.
Move over Wayne, it appears that the "next one" has finally arrived.

Absolutely, they're pretty much guarenteed a spot already and they're tied with NJ atm (pretty sure) for the top seat in the division. They rank pretty high overall. You should be asking whether or not they're going to win the Stanley Cup, which the answer is definately. And they're best player is.........oh wait everyone.
