This was recently stated in response to some drivel about liberals "never" following the Constitution.

Why don't people understand that the Constitution is a far more complicated document than just its Amendments, including the Bill of Rights? Do you people realize that you don't have to just know what the Amendments say, but that you should have a demonstrable understanding of the entire document?

I don't think most people could tell you how many amendments are in the Bill of Rights.. they just like the sound of their own voice.

This is a strange question coming from a person with your background.

An understanding runs deeper than just comprehending the text. As American citizens, we should be civilized enough to where we wouldn't need a Constitution anyways, since most of these laws are common sense. As always in a government as 'lax' as democracy, there are always a few rotten apples to make exceptions to the rules (frivolous lawsuits, false racial charges, etc.) and it makes the law worse for everyone.

Doesn't it strike you people as odd that we actually have a special union for "civil rights and liberties", and things like the ACLU and Affirmative Action?

You mean like members of the JUSTICE DEPARTMENT taking the FIFTH. The key there being thaqt if there is no crime, there is no reason to take the fifth.

So what they are saying is that they were trying to rig elections all over the country. This is the JUSTICE DEPARTMENT.

By the way, isn't Dick Armee, former Conservative Congressman from Texas, head of the ACLU?

Summary, we have Traitors outing CIA agents in the Vice Presidents Office and the Justice Department engaging in Voter Fraud.

Becuase the rest of the constitution speaks to how gov. runs. The fact that people don't speak of those is that it is fairly well contructued and runs ok. Sure there are challenges here and there. But the majority of the issues come from the bill of rights.

No.

Most people do understand the complexity of the document, at least I try to.

It's just that groups like the ACLU do an awful lot to dismantle it, especially the 1st Amendment, via the courts.

And anti-gun groups want to remove or limit the 2nd. Can you not say this goes on?

Those that do not know fully the Constitution only talk about the first amendment, if you've noticed.

I wouldn't sweat it. according to neo-cons, liberals are the root of all that is evil and unholy in the land. Whatever the Bush admin does, it will always be the liberals that made him fail in their eyes. So much for personal accountability...
