i heard on the news the ps3 in asia will not be able to play ps2 games and ps1 games. because they are not selling very well so they made them cheaper. so is that going to happen in the usa in several months??

yes or no i need to know

I live in the U.S., so keep that in mind, but my PS3 can play PS2 and PS games, I've tried. Sony has made the PS3 more software based than hardware, so they can upgrade it on the fly. So the PS3 might not have been compatible before, but I can say that it is now. All you need is an internet connection and the system updates automatically.

Well Nobody On Here Will Know For Sure. But It Sounds Like A Possibility To Me. I Think That Its A Bad Move Myself But What Do I Know Right? I'll Pay The Extra Money For Backwards Compatibilty

No, i doubt it, fans will be more reluctant to buy it if it doesnt offer backwards compatability and ps3 sales are already lagging due to the huge price. This may fly for the foreign market but wont work in the U.S. at least. As always don't believe everything you read on the net, not even me. Cheers!

that wouldn't help the ps3 sell at all.

in fact I would no longer consider buying one. because so far, there are NO good games out for it. I rest my case.
