my son is 10 weeks and i spend almost 20-30 mins trying to burp him, meanwhile hes asleep most of the time and he wont burp. but he will burp later on his own...should i keep on trying?

it is recommended that you burp babies until they start on solids. Everyone will have different opinions on this one. But if he burps on his own like you say, then it might not be necessary. Unless he is crying and uncomfortable from gas, then it seems to be ok the way it is. Good luck and remember that mother knows best

I used to work at a daycare and we stopped burping babies once they hold their bottle on their own. On the other hand, if you are trying to burp him for that long and he's not, I wouldn't keep trying. I usually try for a couple minutes on 4 month old, and if she doesn't, I just sit her in her bouncy seat that way she in inclined and won't get an upset stomache.

If your baby is burping on his own, it is okay for you to stop.

I had the same problem but i did keep trying bc it eliminates most of the spitup he will have
