I don't know about the others who respond but I have been a nudist for years and I will try to answer your question completely and seriously. First of all, do not use the word colony. Nudists find it offensive. Larger nudist resorts offer amenities such as rooms, restaurants, bars, even casinos. An example would be Avalon in West Virginia. Smaller ones which are basically campgrounds often with a pool and volleyball court are called nudist camps. As to your question, most men are surprised by the fact that they do not become aroused in a nudist situation. The feeling is exactly the same as if you had bathing trunks on. You can be on the beach surrounded by beautiful, skimpily clad women and an erection will seldom occur. If it does it's usually only a partial. It's the same in a nudist setting. Occasionally, something arousing will occur. Like a woman you know giving you a friendly hug. Different camps have their own rules as how to handle this. As a rule, if it's only a brief stirring, ignore it. If it is fuller and looks like it is going to last casually drape a towel over it. Nudists carry one at all times to sit on. Not being a woman I can't speak to "getting wet" but I suspect women feel much the same as men. I do think that since their arousal is not as obvious as a man's women feel more free to let their imagination roam since they have nothing except a nipple erection to betray what they are thinking. Feel free to write me at tristatenudist@yahoo.com if you have further questions. To find a camp or resort near you go to www.nudistparksusa.net and type in your zip.

Obviously, by your use of the very outdated term "nudist colony", you have no real idea what living in a nudist club or resort is like. Nudist clubs are a place where people go to experience non-sexual social nudity. They are not playgrounds for those looking for thrills or excitement.
They avoid always being turned on the same way you do in your neighborhood. Are you turned on when your see your neighbor taking out her garbage or going to the mailbox? Are you excited when the garbage truck pulls up or the mailman comes?
If the answer is no, then you can understand the difference between nudity and sexual excitement. If the answer is yes, you should immediately seek help.
Nudists aren't sexually excited by the sight of a naked body. To a nudist, a person is the same whether nude or clothed. Nudism is not about turn ons, but instead comfort, freedom, and self-confidence.

Because nudists know the difference between nude and sex. A nudist resort/camp/beach is a much different invironment that a bedroom. Nudists understand that just being nude does not lead to sex except in intimate situations.
BTW, nudist do not live in colonies. Lepers and ants live in colonies.

The men generally do not become enticed because they are generally "numbnuts".
