It sounds like the low rent option with relatives is the best financial option. Are there social, relationship reasons why it wouldn't work?

Consider setting some goals before you move in:
- savings target
- new job, source of funds
- purchase some necessities
- pay exisiting debt, bills

Setting goals will help keep you focused and make your stay as productive as possible. It will also help to know that the situation is TEMPORARY.

Only you can answer this. Any time you have to live with anyone, especially relatives you are going to give up some things and compromise on others. Anything is doable for a short period of time. Are you going to have to put things in storage?, How many and age of your kid(s)? Will the relatives help watch or babysit?

You might want to consider moving in with them for a finite period of time to build up a little nest egg for rainy times. You might even be able to save enough for a condo or townhouse and get out of the renting all together.

The smartest thing to do, if you have the opportunity available to you, is to live with relatives -- but give yourself a timeline. Use as much time as you can (without neglecting your child/children) to study and gain skills that will allow you to qualify for a higher level income career -- one that has room for growth and where the skills are in demand.

Be an inspiration to your child/children -- teach by example -- hard work and determination result in success.
