Sit your child in a high chair; give him/her the baby food finger stuff (like those small hot dogs) or something else easy to chew - like slices of a banana, a sliced cooked carrot, a really small piece of fish or chicken, a cut up popcicle, a small piece of bread, a small piece of a cooked potato or anything else that has been thoroughly cooked and cut into small pieces.

yeah caorse u can try fruit or veg or perhaps rusks or something along that line (although people do say these are bad for teeth and heath, i think if you brush there teeth/gums at leats twice a day and make sure the rest of the day the meals he has are nutrtious then they should be ok.). have u started him on solid food yet. if not why dont u try purifying what you have for tea, put some veg in and some chicken with a bit of gravy and make it into a mush. try startin at that angle or perhaps baby rice first so he gets used to eatin solid food. he may then choose to want to grab your food when you eat and at this point offer him some finger foods.

Yes! What depends on if he/she has any teeth and how many. Some good first finger foods are Gerber's fruit and veggie puffs. My daughter LOVED them. They melt in your mouth so they are easier to "chew" and they are small enough not to cause a choking problem. My daughter also did well with their wagon wheels. Another good first finger food is small pieces of cut up melons. The Babycenter article I included has some good advice, and the Gerber link has a coupon for the puffs!

We began finger meals with our son at 7 months too. you may attempt something that has a softer texture, truly. Steamed greens, some end result, pastas, cheese, bread, some meats. She does not want tooth to bite, regardless of universal perception. babies use their gums to mash up meals till their molars are available(around a 300 and sixty 5 days-300 and sixty 5 days and a one million/2) and maximum babies are on finger meals till that factor.

I have been giving my 6 month old the "Biter Biscuts" and cheerios for about a month now. She has the chewing thing down and in case something gets by her without chewing she has a great gag reflex. The chewing and gag reflex are the two most important factors you want to look for, I don't think there is a magic age, it all depends on where your baby is developmentally. Good luck!

you can buy special baby biscuits like rusks in the supermarkets. give your baby most things now even skinless sausages.

Yes I used to chop up little slices of carrott and other vegetables and also fruits and let my son pick up which he wanted. Cut up bits of bread or toast . And to be honest if given the chance most babies will explore any food given a favourite of my sons was any type of yoghurt think most ended up on his head rather than anywhere else.

Check with your pediatrician. But as soon as mine could do solids I gave them eggs (whites or scrambled), noodles, crackers, peas, whole cut (cut in small tender pieces) green beans, fruit cocktail. Mine never ate jar food or baby food. I did give them cereal and I started mixing it with applesauce. I would mix cottage cheese and applesauce. Scrambled eggs. You can put a lot things in the blender. Introduce one new food at a time and build on it. Cheese is good. Yogurt. Icecream.

You can start now. I started my son at a bout 7 months and he took to it really well. I started with little pieces of banana, scrambled egg or small pieces of bread and butter (he loved that). gradually I stepped it up to larger pieces of banana, pasta, toast, and mini sandwiches. He is now nearly 13 months and has a whole banana half and feeds it to himself.
