in my belly. I get a feeling almost like possibly the baby is pushing against my stomach like he'she is trying to get out... it kinda feels close but not quite like a spasm... also i get pulling feelings on my sides above the hip... like my insides or something are getting pulled and stretched out... can someone tell me what this could be? My doctor said I wouldn't really feel anything until about 20 weeks so could it be that my baby is already telling me Hey make some more room in here?

It is totally normal to feel that way. Your body is preparing to make room for the baby. Muscles are stretching and your organs are moving.

I am a mother of 2.

I am also exactly 17 weeks pregnant and asked two specialist today about the very same problem, I also get alot of pain above the hip when I move quickly, he said they are the ligaments, and he said most women experience it on their left hand sides, no this isnt braxton hicks, braxton hick does not hurt at all and is a tighting then a loosening of the tummy, like mini contractions that are normal. Right now your baby is strating to grow and it is the time when your insides and your skin will start to stretch so you will probably feel a bit uncomfortable or a little bit of pain in your lower abdomen especially if you are lying down stretched back. The doctor also said by the 4th birth women dont have the above hip ligament pain HUHHHHHHHHH I said 4 in your dreams, this and maybe one more, second time is supopse to be alot easier and less painful because the ligaments and skin is alreyd stretched from the first time

Best of luck with yoru pregnancy,

If you feel the baby moving at this stage it is normally liek a swooshing kind of tickling octopus in your tummy kind of feeling, and not so much of a pushing like you describe, the pushing is probably just your muscles and everything stretching makign mroe room for the bubba to grow

It is quite normal, especially with your first pregnancy, to feel the "growing pains" that you're describing. Just as we, as children, experience growth spurts so do our babies while in utero. I often speak with women between their 16-18th. weeks who have similar occurrences. Your baby has been growing like crazy all along but is now getting big enough that your body is feeling it. Your uterus needs to expand to accommodate the growing fetus and sometimes that happens a little more slowly, thus the pushing you've described. The hip discomfort is a result of some supportive ligaments in your pelvis that are somewhat like rubber bands. They will stretch to support your expanding uterus but sometimes it takes a week or so for this to happen. The best thing to do is take it easy for a few days--not strict bed-rest or anything--just stay off your feet, take a break from exercise, drink plenty of water, and refrain from sex. If your ob-gyn says Tylenol is okay, and you're not allergic to it, you can take it. Make sure you're eating well(lots of fiber) so your bowels are regular--constipation can sometimes make the discomfort you described worse. Finally, just pay attention to the symptoms. They sound very normal but certainly, if the pain worsens, is accompanied by bleeding, is incapacitating or doesn't resolve in a week, call your doctor. Take good care and have someone who loves you give you a foot run tonight:)

Text book says you won't feel anything until 20 weeks but text book is not always right. Your baby is moving quite a bit but there is plenty of room he/she is just moving those new parts of the body. The pulling feelings you are noticing is the ligaments that attach your uterus to the rest of your body. As the baby moves then your uterus moves and pull and tugs on your ligaments. Hopefully this helps. Enjoy your pregnancy! And good luck with your delivery!

Oh honey You have PLENTY of room in there for your little one. Remember your baby is not even a Pound yet and when you deliver it will be anywhere from 7 to 9 pounds!
You are feeling just the normal bumps of the baby, and soon those bumps will turn into sometimes PAINFUL kicks!
The feeling on your hips are your ligaments muscles just stretching.. all perfectly normal for your stage of pregnancy. Congrats and enjoy!

I am 23 Weeks pregnant with my first child, and I felt the baby move when I was 17 weeks. And it felt like pushing and thumping. The pulling feelings on your sides are the round ligaments stretching. These ligaments are attached to your uterus and help stabilize it. These feelings aren't weird, they're normal. CONGRATS AND GOOD LUCK!!

really normal what your feeling. You body is changing and the uterus moves and it's getting in position for baby . You will be experiencing many symptoms as you move along in pregnancy. Don't worry your body was made for this. I felt like butterfly feeling's in my lower abdomen after I was two weeks late that's how I new I was pregnant. My husband wanted to know what I was experiencing and the best way to describe it was like My insides were getting a massage by little hands.

You could be feeling the baby move! I felt my first at about 13-14 weeks. The stretching and spasms are likely your muscles reacting to the extra weight/pressure. It's normal!

Congrats!!!

What you are feeling is the baby moving around. Thats what it feels like, early on. Eventually as the child grows inside you it will kick and roll around and you'll see your whole stomach move. Once in awhile you might be able to make out a tiny foot or elbow poking you from the inside out.
Many women are different. I felt my son start to move at 12 weeks and my daughter at 14 weeks.

It is possible you are feeling the baby move. The first movements are very light. I felt all 3 of my girls move for the first time when I was 17 weeks and some women have felt it even earlier.
