Explain in detail what you did again.

In general, themes are visual elements only, and thus only affect appearance on screen, not as printout.

What MS document? Word? Excel? PowerPoint? Other?

And what is "refusing to print"? Did you get error message? Did you get a printout and it's not what you expected? If so, how did it differ?

ٍSince you're saying that it is a Microsoft Document then I'll assume you are working with Microsoft Word, Just make sure that the settings for printing are set that background colors and images are printed. From Tools->Options menu, goto the "Print" tab and make sure that the check box for "Background colors and images is checked ON.
