How do I get rid of the funny smell from a sofa cushion with down?

Saw a response from a few months back about getting rid of funny smell on down blankets, but with the sofa cushion, I won't be able to wash the smell away as suggested for the blanket. Please help! Does anyone know why does it smell anyway? Thanks!

Spinkle it with a good layer of bi carb of soda, leave it for an hour and then vacuum it off, it will smell much better

Will the covers unzip and are they washable? If so I would do that first.
And whether the covers come off or not, take them to a laundro mat and pop them into the big dryers with softener sheets (several) for 5 to 8 minutes (med. heat). This should fluff them up and help dry them out if they have absorbed any dampness.

Then spray them with Febreze to continue to improve the smell.
