I went to the doctor today and had my membranes swept. I was dilated to a 3, and completely thinned out. My blood pressure was going up so he wanted to get things going. So now that he has done that, does any one have a good idea about how much longer it will be before im in labor now? Anyone have this happen to them? I would love to hear everyones stories!

Hello there! I am a "pro" at getting my membranes stripped! It sure hurts huh? Anywho, two pregnancies, both had them stripped MULTIPLE times...here are some tips to help labor along! DO NOT SIT ON YOUR BOTTOM! Sitting will "heal" the membranes and your body will regenerate what the doctor swept and it won't bring on labor in most cases. With my first I was stripped at 36,37,38,39 and 40 weeks...didn't have her til 40w 6 days! Agh! My mistake..I went home, sat down and didn't move til my next appt for the most part!
Second pregnancy...stripped at 36 and 37. Doctor threatened induction at 38 weeks (had gestational diabetes) so I read up on as much as I could to get labor started.
* WALK..up hills is best. It puts pressure down on your cervix, causing further dilation.
*SEX with hubby...semen contains prostiglandins that thin your cervix out more and bring on the contractions!
*Birthing ball or squatting. I have a big exercise ball, also known as a birthing ball, sit on it, never just in a chair. Computer time, chatting with hubby...etc, all done ON birthing ball. It opens your pelvis and keeps things moving down below. Bounce, rock and sit, it all helps!

I went into labor the next morning with my second!

Good luck and I hope that you have a fast and easy delivery!!!

I had my membranes stripped with my youngest daughter. I was also 3 centimeters dialated and thinned out. I was in beginning stages of labor within 4 hours and had my little one less than 24 hours later. It does not always happen that way though

Good luck.

It depends on your body..But it worked for me..I had it done and after having it done I started cramping but nothing major..But then 6 hours later I started having contrations 5 minutes apart. I had my son the next morning..So it works for some people..

It could happen any minute! Or...it could take days. If it takes too long, you will most likely be induced. Good luck!
