I am 21 and I have been sexually active with the same person for 2 years. I have only ever slept with him. Haven't noticed any changes down there just wanted to know when am I supposed to start going for them. Is it when I'm 25 and over, or because I'm sexually active do I start now?

I would pop along and get your first smear, in the States they are much more aggressive than we are here and do them much more often. In many practices the nurse does the smears, so ask about that option.

Hi as you are sexually active I would go and see your dr and ask to be booked in for one .
Then you will be sent a card through the post to remind you to book for another one in three years. It would be yearly if any thing abnormal was found.
They are slightly uncomfortable but they are worth the slight discomfort as if there is abnormal cells the earlier they pick them up the better it is for you.

I usually get a letter just to let me know that I need to make an appointment for a regular test. I've only had 2 partners, been with second one ages, but I still recommend getting regular tests just, not so much for STI but to check for any abnormal cells to be on the safe side!! :)

As you are sexually active you should book your first appt now. It's never too early. Remember its not the nicest thing we girlies have done to us but it saves a lot of lives. After the first check they send for you at three yearly intervals.

I've been going annually since I turned 18 or since I started having sex. You can never be too careful when it comes to your health. I recommend you go... It only takes like 30 mins. Plus not every disease has symptoms or visible changes so it is always better to be safe and get checked out.

I got a letter through the mail for my first smear and all the ones since, you could always ring the surgery and ask.

You mean your pap smear? You need to start now and go every year. It has nothing to do with whether you are active or not.
