I paid the $320 filing charges to have divorce papers served on my wife in early March of this year. Does she need to pay that same amount (or any amount) in order to submit her response, or is it free to her? I know I could go to the court house to ask, but I thought I'd try here first.

Thanks!

IF she files her response with the court, the filing fee would be 320.00 for her also. or she can submit a fee waiver with her response, to see if she qualifies to have some or all of her fees waived. she could possibly qualify depending on her income or if she receives any state/gov aid.

She will have to pay if she does NOT agree with the paperwork you have submitted. If everything is agreeable then she doesn't need to do anything (no response) and in 30 days it will turn to the default filing stage.

It depends if it is contested or not - (i.e. hiring a lawyer) But usually, yes to have her response filed at the courthouse there will be a fee.

She shouldn't have to pay and if and when she hires a lawyer to defend her; they mostly likely will try to get you to pay her lawyer's fees since you initiated the divorce.

All I know is that if she is not contesting it it costs her nothing.
