Depends.
There are 5 (or more) DDR games available for the playstation 2 and xbox, the Ultramix series and SuperNova. So then you would need to buy the system, the game, and the pad. The game/pad often come in a bundle.
If you already have one of these video game systems, just get it for one of the systems you own. I personally have the newly released xbox 360 version, which is amazing. If you don't own any systems, well, you're in for a hefty investment. Get a ps2 for 120 bucks and a game and pad for 50-60 or so.
(I personally would recommend a PS2, so that you could buy Guitar Hero when your legs get tired of DDR.)

If you want to be cheap and save money you can get a PC remake of DDR for computer called Stepmania, its free and you can download the songs from all DDR games and there is a site called bemanistyle which has 1000s of songs. All you need is to download the game, get a couple of playstation or x-box dance mats (playstation are more common and seem to work better) and some playstation to USB converters (I use SmartJoy boxes) and just connect them to your computer and your dance mats to them a you have free DDR

You need a PlayStation 2 or an XBox, the actual Dance Dance Revolution game (which usually comes with a dance mat), and legs with the ability to move. Rhythm would probably help as well.
