No,No,No- never give out your bank account, it's a scam. There are alot of scams going on, beware. I get checks weekly, they tell you to deposit the money in your account, wait for it to clear, then call them and they will send you like 200,000,000 that the first check is just to pay the taxes, but you have to send the money back from the first check to pay the taxes. What actually happens is that your bank will post the money and then you with draw it to send it back(for the taxes) you send it back, in about 3 to 4 weeks your bank realizes that the check was fraud and you have to pay them the money back plus fees. Rule of thumb, if it sounds to good to be true, then it is to good to be true.
Theres another scam out there where someone calls and says that they work for the phone company and are just testing the phone lines. That you need to press some numbers for them, so that they can check the lines, don't do it, hang up and report them to the phone company. If you press the numbers that they ask, you release the security code on your phone and they can make long distance calls using your number. You will recieve a phone bill with thousands of dollars of phone calls on it. They sell you access code to a bunch of low lifes

Absolutely not. This is a well known scam. After he gets your bank account details, he'll be asking for a little money to release something, then a little more, and eventually he'll have enough information about your bank account to take the money out himself.

Absolutely not..my older sister was suckered into this same scheme and she ended up losing almost $2,000. The company pretty much emptied her account and the Better Business Bureau was contacted and since it was International, there was nothing could be done. Do Not fall into this trap because it could leave you broke in the end.

Why would you want to give someone you don't know your bank account number in the first place?

As well-known as this scam is, or ought to be anyway, Rhoda's answer just goes to show you that there's still one born every minute, as PT Barnum said.
Here's a good article on one guy who got taken bad. Let this be a lesson, if you're really considering going through with anything....
