I doubt it, I suppose you have seen the documentary "Ghosts of Abu Ghraib." Very disturbing and sad movie, I used to place the blame on the individual soldiers, but the blame should fall much higher up the chain of command. Of course, the only punished ones were the lower ranked...only 8 of them, I believe. Rumsfeld even released the identity of the soldier who turned in the pictures, even though that soldier was told he was to remain anonymous. Those soldiers were not trained as prison guards, yet they were given the responsiblity of running a prison w/ about 6-7 ppl. per 1,000 detainees...that must have been very scary for them. They were also told to do these things, and given express permission in a memo from Rumsfeld...they guy who got the longest sentence (10yrs) even got a letter of commendation for how he was handling the detainees, before the pictures came out, of course. People try to say these soldiers were being sadistic but they were ordered to do these things, and our brain works in mysterious ways. Germans aren't inherently bad people, but when propaganda, passing of responsiblity and the feeling of being threatened along w/ strong nationalism come in play...well, we all know what happened there.
"Why of course the people don't want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally the common people don't want war neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."
--Hermann Goering(1893-1946) Commander-in-Chief of the Luftwaffe, President of the Reichstag, Prime Minister of Prussia and, as Hitler's designated successor, the second man in the Third Reich.

Of couse they tortured them! What do you think they do to our pows? If it takes torture to save american lives, I am all for it. It is pansy libs like you that can't see the forest for the trees. This is a war on terrorism, sometimes we have to improvise to win. It is because of lightweights like you, who would throw a fit if the truth was told, that the president has to hide facts. Go get em president Bush and God Bless.

Is there proof that they tortured anyone, I know they humiliated some detainees, but I don't think they tortured them.
If you have specific proof that this happened, then I will apologize to you for being wrong.

The truth has been told. There was no torture of detainees. You cannot make someone guilty of a crime just by repeating a lie over and over.

It's the President's job to lie. There has not been a President to tell the truth since Truman. Do you know what he said?
