do colleges really lose interest in you when you have C's or D's on your transcript? Like really good colleges that we are talking about.???

Nope, I know kids that have failed several classes and still got into a great college

C's are average, but if you get a D or E then you should try to retake the course again for a better grade! The bad grade won't disappear off your transcripts, but if you improve your grades, colleges WILL give you a chance. Just don't make it a habit of doing "average work". Although some classes are kinda tough, do what-ever you can to do good!

D's are pretty bad...you should definitely retake any classes you received a 'D' in. C's don't really matter, though...I got into UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara and I got C's in Geometry, AP US History, and Pre-calc (the first time, I retook it for a higher grade, but it still shows on my high school transcripts). Retaking classes you think you didn't do well in (ie a D or F grade) or aren't satisfied with (a C in a math class you retake and get an A in) shows that you won't settle and that you can apply yourself.

Remember not to stress out too much once you get into college though...C's get degrees!

You mean like Harvard or Stanford? It won't rule you out completely, but it certainly makes it a really steep uphill battle to get in.

At the "really good" colleges like those, all the kids have insanely high GPAs. A couple of C's will really hurt. D's even worse.

It's not the end of the world if you don't go to a school like that though. Especially if you plan on going to grad school. Your high school grades don't count anymore in that case. You get to start fresh with your college grades.

It is best to not have c's and d's should be repeated and changed, but it's not impossible to get into a school with a few lower grades on your transcript if you can balance it with high sat or act test scores and extracurricular activities.

So not impossible, but it makes things harder... be careful.
