The first time I returned it to the owner because his address was in my area. The second time I returned it to the police because I had found it up in the sierra mountains and his address was on the east coast.
I lost my cell phone twice, and twice it was returned to me. There are honest people in this world.

Chances are you will get it back. Possibly without the money, but if you're like me, the licenses, ID and other things are worth more I don't carry credit cards. And yes. I have found several wallets, purses, etc. A lot of people return them to a store in the area where it was found. You might check there. I always look for some ID and call the person that lost it. I'm not comfortable with turning a found wallet over to someone in a store. I have no way of verifying it got returned to it's owner. Same with cell phones. I've found a few of those.

I found a wallet once in the park.... it contained 4 CC and over 200 cash.
I seriously thought it was a joke or something you know to see just what ppl would do if they found it.
I went through it, but only to find the ID card. Looked up the guy in the phone book, and drove 30 minutes to his house to drop it off.
He gave me $50 cash for the troubles I went though.
Sure I could have kept it, but what comes around goes around. It's all about the carma.

i would turn it in to the security department of that store if it was losted in a store.Or drop it in the mailbox thats how they use to do it back in the day in america..i found a wallet once and I located the owner from its address and had my husband a law enforcement officer take me there to return it to the owner. An at work when i worked at Walmart ppl were so careless with there items like mobile phones, keys, wallets etc. I tell you our accounting office had more customer belongings than anything we were running out of space in the office. We had to ask home office for a safe. So bascially be careful with your items. Pay attention to what you are doing..

I have found a wallet a few times...and always returned them intact to the owner. Except one time the wallet belonged to a guy from out of town, so I turned it over to the police and assume they contacted the owner. I was never offered any reward, and would have refused it anyways. Why accept anything for simply doing the right thing !!

I would hand it in to the local police station because believe me it will come back and haunt you if you don't..
One day i was going to work and i found a purse with £300 in it and a Top Up card ...so i pocketed the cash and threw the purse away....3 years later i am dating the woman whos purse it was although i didn't know that at the time when i met her...been with her 7 years now..i would be better off getting sentenced at the High Court for theft

If it was stolen, you will get everything back except for the money. But if a person finds your documents, they will give it to the police of maybe call you. Anyways, you should always contact the last stores you went to and your local police station to see if they found anything.

probably not. most people are not that honest. In the USA, we can put a wallet in the mail box and the post office would return it to you. (but don't count on the money being in there)
