I do think British and Americans have different registers for humor, although we have a lot of common ground. We all love Monty Python, for example, and "Are You Being Served?" is one of the funniest things on television, either side of the Atlantic Ocean. I agree with the answerer who said there really aren't any funny sitcoms on American TV right now...we're laughing at Comedy Central right now: The Blue Collar Comedy Tour, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, The Mind of Mencia...

would desire to believe woood. American humour remains new and intensely direct. additionally they have not had extremely as many centuries to giggle at themselves extremely a similar way the British have. yet people who're extra attuned with the frailties of their own society and way of life, have a real experience of understand-how. way of life has lots to do with humour. And in case you look heavily at British humour, i think of you will see that's even lots extra direct than American. it certainly relies upon on what hits your humorous bone. How come no person posts Qs approximately Pakistani, German, Sri Lankan humour? we want so lots extra variety.

I think they have a difference in their humor. I am U.S. but I am a fan of the "Britcoms" They r great but u have to have a certain type of humor yourself and be able to understand when they r talking abt things that r different to the U.S.. My husband was British and he could explain alot of the words I couldn't understand but I love the humor of the Brits. The best show ever is Judi Dench in "As Time Goes Bye" it plays on PBS channels. GREAT!
