Confidence is the knowledge that you are competent and capable to accomplish something. This is valuable because if you doubt yourself you probably will fail to think the thoughts and do the things that will be needed for success.
You earn confidence by achieving things, and then giving yourself credit for those accomplishments. This enables you to believe in yourself.
Confidence is best balanced with humility...the idea that you have great strengths, but also areas where you aren't so strong. The idea that you don't know everything, that you can always learn more, become more competent and capable.
When confidence is unbalanced, it becomes *********, which is essentially an unrealitic form of confidence. Misplaced confidence. It can also lead to arrogance, which is the notion that you are always absolutely right, and others are wrong, so you are better than everyone.
Continue to grow in confidence, but always temper it with the realistic perspective that you still can learn from others, you still have plenty of room to grow.

The two really don't relate unless you pursue confidence to the extent that you become oblivious that others have ideas and confidence as well. Being confident means that you feel good about yourself and trust yourself and your abilities. It also allows you to stand up for yourself because you know you're important. If you have confidence, you have a sense of pride and, according to an all-time favorite teacher of mine, if you have a good sense of pride, you have all the other qualities. If you have pride in yourself, you're generous and kind to others, you trust yourself to allow others to trust you, you feel like you can take on a lot of responsibility. But if this reaches the point where you think you don't need to have the other qualities, then you know that you're a bit arrogant. You need to think about your appearance and how you come across to others, like what the same teacher told me.

I think it crosses the line when you are unable to be humble. You can be confident and still acknowledge that you are imperfect. Arrogance is when you see yourself as better than everyone else, or when you don't see the point in listening to other people's opinions.

Having confidence is wonderful, but it becomes arrogance if the only thing you pay attention to is yourself.

I believe it becomes arrogance when a person is constantly preoccupied with how confident they are.

When you become aggressive instead of assertive and when you undermine other people's intelligence. Being self-righteous is a good example of arrogance.
