Write a letter to the landlord stating that you are giving notice that you will be moving out in 30 days.

you should be able to give your manager a verbal 30 day notice or you could write a note and include it with your rent, of course make a copy of the note for your records.

Always in writing....... Nothing fancy, just state you are giving 30 day notice as required by lease/rental agreement and when that end date is.

Good luck.
