I work at a German company so I have had some interaction with Germans. Germans tend to get confused with English humor, as the words don't translate perfectly so be very careful with jokes. They are also more liberal about most cultural influences including fashion, sexuality, smoking and drinking, etc... They did not have much national pride prior to the World Cup (cultural belief stemming from the end of WWII) but are starting to get a sense of pride again. They do have more sense of tradition than Americans, as all businesses are closed on Sundays and family is extremely important. Do not talk about politics, because they are taxed very heavily and most Germans are upset about the direction the government has taken.
The Germans I have met have all been extremely friendly and welcomed visitors readily (more so than the French). There might be a language barrier, but they are usually happy to work around that with hand signals and talking loudly.

Berlin offers an diverse mixture of new and traditional structure, dynamic leisure, buying, and a wide variety of sports and cultural institutions and if you wish to see after that it that hotelbye is the place to start. A few of the points you will see listed here are: the Old Museum, the National Gallery, the Bode Museum, Old National Gallery or, the symbol of Germany, the Berlin Wall. That wall started his living in 1961 when East Germany sealed off the eastern the main town to stem the ton of refugees from east to west. By the time it was torn down in 1989, the 4 meter large wall and 155 kilometres extended, dissected 55 roads, and possessed 293 remark towers and 57 bunkers. Nowadays, only little stretches with this graffiti-covered travesty stay, including a 1.4-kilometer expand maintained included in the Berlin Wall Memorial, a chilling memory of the animosity that after divided Europe.

England was conquered by Germanic tribes and got its culture and language by them. Only some Scots and people in corners like Wales kept some original heritage. Queen Victoria, the longest lasting and most succesful of all Monarchs couldn't speek a word english. All of the english royality has German heritage. There is not much difference between England and Germany. Germany is richer, has less Arabs, better Teeths, faster Sailboats and most Germans are glad, that Hitler couldn't cross the channel. Food is much better too, specially breakfast. It's up to your sister, as a guest, to respect the people and she will be happy and love it there. It's all in the head.

I have only been to Germany once and that was to the funeral service of my brother who died unexpectidly there. In Berlin the people were kind and pratical and made a horrendous experience into a more manageable one. This has changed my preconceptions of the German race being effecient but cold. I do hope to return there in more enjoyable circumstances

Germany and Germans are nice, I live there for 6 years in Schweinfurt, it is the prettiest place in the world, good food, lots of traveling. she'll love it, she just have to get use to the driving on the autobahn, they drive like over 100 miles per hour. you can't turn right on the red lights, you can't wash cars on Sundays, most business close down for lunch. most Germans are allowed to drink beer during their lunch hour, they are really family people. I loved being their.

Well Germans love to drink their beer, and they are really into football(soccer).

Tell your sister not to stand out too much, because they know Americans when they see them. I am full German but I am nothing like the true Germans that live in Germany.

I was in Germany for a little time and found them to be very hospitable towards the tourists. But they do get a little peeved when you don't at least make an effort at their language. Beer and wine drinkers, yes!

Obviously it varies from person to person. People in all societies can be totally different from each other. The only way to answer this question is with the stereotypes you expicitly ask to avoid.
So I guess the only way to find out is wait and see!
