I smoke outside the house, and I've noticed that there is always a bee following me.

Not to smoke their not. Bee Keepers use smoke to sedate the bee's when they collect their honey. They may still get a sting or two, but it works. It's probably what ever perfume or hairspray/products you are using that attracts them. Or maybe it's just because you are so sweet. lol

As it was explained to me, not because of the smoke itself but rather because of the aromatic addition in the cigar/cigarette. It smells sweet and thusly attracts the bees, just as a blooming flower would.

Of course not.
Smoke relaxes any type of flying insect. Why do you think they sell the oil sticks for the yards on the spring and summer time? They will go away becaue they get relaxed and kinda sedated. (sleepy) Beekeepers use smoke to clean beehives.
