NO, it's not.
I HATE the name calling on this site but liberals feel the need to insult me every time they answer one of my questions. If you look at MY answers - I don't engage in such childish behavior...most of the time! : )

I don't see much out and out name calling in the media, what happens here is much different. I'm never sure how people can say some of the things that they do say without opening themselves up for a lemming-like answer. I now try to be a little more particular about the questions I answer so I don't get roped in by trolls.
If you want a better indicator of the intelligence of the American people, look in categories where experience and helpfulness are used instead of the cloned thinking that abounds in Politics.

Sure, in some ways it is. But keep in mind that folks can answer anonymously in a forum like this, so people don't worry as much (if at all!) about the consequences of doing things like insulting and offending others. Hence the childish behavior of some here.
Also, it's not so different in other countries. I've traveled to many, and each country has its haters, its idiots, its racists, and other undesirables. America's not alone in this.

I wouldn't say that it is a good indicator, but I'll guarantee you'll get a lot of Americans to call you childish vulgar names and make personal references that have nothing to do with the question at all in response... Americans are by their own choice a people of very little brain, and little room for growth, that doesn't necessarily apply to all Americans, but it is the general consensus. Americans are well-trained dogs, and very of full of themselves, as well as being full of other more unsavory things.... but that's beside the point. Our media doesn't always represent us though, in fact it is one of the main factors that contributes to our division on petty social issues and important debates.... And there is maybe about 1% grand total of the individuals who ask and answer in this section of Y!A that know anything at all about politics, but people like to look more important than they are, so what better way is there than to stick their noses into a heated topic with a lot of gray areas, and retort back their version of someone else's opinion as their menial understanding of politics interprets it? We are not all stupid in America, we are just ignorant, and yes there is a difference. However our media is not a sufficient representative of our beliefs or our intellectual capacity.

Of course not. But sometimes even a lying name in a sound byte can become the truth before it is proven. So it is an easy and cheap way of making "points"

No. Most Americans are moderate and extremely friendly; at least from my experience in the country. The friendly ones don't talk the loudest, though, and you're unlikely to find many here.

You know I went to the Canary Islands a few months ago, and went deep sea fishing. On the boat my husband and I chartered was 2 Russian men. They where very kind and intelligent men. Too bad you can not follow their example.

Not really...It's just more proof that the kids will parrot what they see the "grown-ups" do on TV....And the TV networks will pander to whatever increases advertising revenue...in this case, promoting controversy and stridency over content and values.

No... I am an educated traditional Conservative American. I don't call names. I offer my difference of opinion based in fact.
The name callers, in my opinion, are children or nuts here to just inflame. Thus, never questions or debates... just spewing hate.

When people do vent and make ignorant remarks and comparisons, and ask stupid questions. They do appear ignorant.
I think that people say things on blogs that they would not normally say in public because they can vent anonymously and their passions override their common sense.
