I've seen some earlier cartoons of it where they defintiely hate each other and I haven't seen any of the later ones to know what happens.
And whether they have a duel later and whoever wins, what's their reaction to each other after the duel?

in the episode "the scars of defeat" joey and kaiba duel, and kaiba wins, his blue eyes white dragon attacks joey's red eyes dragon! Joey always challenges kaiba at every chance he gets to get a rematch! Mainly i think because joey runs Jinzo and kaiba relies on crush, a trap card. (jinzo negates traps) Joey has since acquired better cards, and stronger dueling skills, and a rematch is inevitable!

go to youtube and watch yugioh the abridged series, it is hilarious and is basically the first two seasons of yugioh in 20 episodes which are about 5 minutes long, and no joey never beat kaiba.
