why are the headquarters for most companies located in developed countries?

Because developed countries have all the necesary infrastructure and amenities needed for organisational growth like good communications system, low level of inflation, good road network, stable economy, good economic environment,democracy, skilled personnel, etc.

It could be because there is where the companies were first incorporated.
