My daughter is nine years old, in the fourth grade and in public school. Another student came up to my daughter at recess and teased her in front of the others. The teasing remark was, "You suck your mother's pussy!" The school put the female child in detention for a couple of hours. I have spoken with the principal and the guidance counselor. I am just not happy with how the school is handling such a vulgar remark from a ten year old student to another. I did go and try to speak with her mother. After my second trip there the mother came to the door. After I explained to her what happened she cussed me out and said that if I came back she would kick my ***. I am concerned for my daughter and this other child. What should I do? Do you think maybe this child has been bothered sexually? I feel that the school should do more for both children. Please help.

I can feel your concern, and I would have been bothered too if it was my child. First, I do not consider this a sexual issue, I would say that it is more as rudeness, desrespect and use of bad language, and agression. Second, You should not approach parents again, let the school resolve the issue, dont take this matter into your hands, I know it is hard cause it is your child, but you need to follow propper procedures to solve these kind opf situations. Third, I am surprised that you could find out what they did to the other child, because you should not be aware of it..YOu should only know that the School followed propper procedures for consequences, you should not even know the childs name. Parents should be informed of the fault and that the school took the matter to a consquences but not aware of names that is private information. but that is another issue. Unfortunatley there is not much that you can do. You should trust the school and the consequences that they enforce. If you are not happy with it, you might want to hold a small conference with the Principal, but I will tell you up front that He or She should not provide you whith any info about that other child. Unfortunatley you cannot set the consequences or the rules for the school. I understand both sides, I am a teacher, and adminsitrator at training and a Mother. I ended up sending one of my kids to another city for three months to keep him away from bad kids.
Good Luck
